New Reserve Team Boss on Board at Athletic
Ashton Athletic have appointed Pernell “Penn” Dunne (pictured) as the new Reserve Team Manager for the forthcoming season. Dunne arrives at Brocstedes Park having guided New Mills’ second string to 3rd spot in the Vodkat Reserve Division last season, just two points adrift of the runners up position.

First team manager David Powell says “ we are very pleased to have secured Penn’s services, who has sound experience at Reserve level of the Vodkat League and also comes with a terrific background in youth development over many years. His enthusiasm in developing and preparing the players for first team duties will be an essential part of our progress in future seasons.”
Dunne comments “I am delighted to be joining Ashton and hope that it will be a long and fruitful association.” He continues, “I am really looking forward to working with the first team manager David Powell and his recently appointed team of Ian Street and Steve Rothwell, and although I really enjoyed my brief stint at New Mills last season the travelling was becoming a drain and it is good to get the opportunity of joining another forward thinking Club, this time on my doorstep”
Preparations are in full flow with existing and new players due to report back for training on Thursday 25th June at the Club’s Brocstedes Park Ground. Full details about the subsequent pre season matches will also be announced shortly.
