Ashton Athletic 5 Daisy Hill 1 - Sat 31st Aug

**Match Report**

Ashton Athletic continued their scintillating run of form with a dominant 5-1 victory over Daisy Hill at Brocstedes Park, making it three wins on the bounce in all competitions. From the first whistle, the Yellows were relentless, showcasing a blend of power, pace, and precision that Daisy Hill simply couldn't contend with.

The home side wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Just 12 minutes into the match, Josh High, who has been in remarkable form, found the back of the net with a well-taken goal from a set piece, continuing his impressive scoring streak. Ashton Athletic's high-pressing game kept Daisy Hill pinned back, and though the Yellows had the ball in the net twice more, both efforts were controversially ruled out.

Undeterred, Ashton doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when the ever-reliable Dek Hill scoring, capping off a sustained period of pressure. By halftime, the scoreline read 2-0, though in truth, it could have been more, such was Ashton’s dominance.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Ashton Athletic firmly in control. Nathan Beca made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute with a superb individual effort, demonstrating his trademark speed and strength. With the game seemingly wrapped up, the management introduced Emmanuel Ujahchuku, and the substitute wasted no time in making his mark. Combining beautifully with Zach Conway, Ujahchuku provided the assist for Conway to finish neatly, extending the lead to 4-0.

Frustration began to creep into Daisy Hill’s play, leading to a few heavy challenges. One such tackle resulted in a penalty for Ashton, which captain Josh Nicholson coolly converted, despite a valiant attempt from the Daisy Hill goalkeeper who managed to get a hand to the powerful shot.

Daisy Hill did manage a late consolation goal, but it was nothing more than a footnote in a game where the result was never in doubt. Ashton Athletic’s performance was a statement of intent, and with this 5-1 victory, they continue to climb the table with momentum firmly on their side.

**Match Preview**

This Saturday, Daisy Hill make the short trip to Brocstedes Park to face an Ashton Athletic side brimming with confidence after their recent run of form. The Yellows are riding high after back-to-back victories, including a dominant 3-0 win over local rivals Ashton Town and a hard-fought 2-1 triumph in the FA Vase against Stockport Georgians.

Daisy Hill currently sit 12th in the North West Counties Division One North with 11 points. Their recent 1-1 draw against third-placed Droylsden was a testament to their resilience, and they'll be eager to build on that solid performance. With a mixed record of 2 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw from their last six matches, Daisy Hill will be looking to find consistency and pull off a result against an in-form Ashton side.

Ashton Athletic have climbed to 10th in the league standings, and their recent form has placed them 6th in the division’s form table. While the stats suggest a closely contested match, football is anything but predictable. Fans can expect a lively and competitive game, with both sides eager to secure valuable points.

The weather forecast is promising, with sunny skies and a high of 21 degrees expected—a perfect day for non-league football. Both sets of supporters can look forward to a warm welcome, delicious food and drink, and what promises to be an entertaining encounter. Kick-off is at 3 pm, with gates opening at 1:30 pm. Don't miss the action at Brocstedes Park!

Admission prices are set at £6 for adults, £3 for concessions, and £1 for under-16s. Juniors accompanied by adults can enjoy the game for free, making it an affordable outing for families. Additionally, Wigan Athletic and other season ticket holders are eligible for the £3 concession price.

Please note, it's cash only at the turnstile, while the bar and kitchen accept card and contactless payments.
